Harold Trumbull went with Honor Flight to Washington DC on April 15, 2017. It was a beautiful and special day. Eighty veterans from WWII, the Korean War, and Vietnam War were flown to Washington DC by Honor Flight. With them were about 50 guardians as well as local guardians from Washington DC. Harold’s niece, Pam, was his guardian for the day. The day started early, at the Columbus Airport, at 5:30 am for the Veterans. They took a flight out to the Baltimore Airport and went in to Washington DC on three buses. The Gahanna Jefferson School District sponsored much of this Honor Flight. The WGLH-TV production staff at Gahanna High School created this 35 minutes video of the trip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qt_4UJu7gxU&feature=youtu.be
Once in Washington DC, the Honor Flight started at the Arlington National Cemetery and viewed the Changing of the Guard. Harold noticed that the Guard took 21 steps, to symbolize the 21 gun salute, the highest military honor.

After the Changing of the Guard, the Honor Flight buses went to the World War II Memorial. At the WWII Memorial, Harold was presented with a U.S. flag. He was also surprised with a surprise visit from his niece, Andrea and her colleague, Harold, who both drove from Massachusetts to celebrate the day with Harold and Pam. Harold was joined by daughter Janice, son-in-law Paul, and grandson, Andrew.
